Two W.T. Chipman Middle School students were surprised with a generous donation of adaptive bocce ball ramps on behalf of Conveyors & Plastics Inc. of Delmar, MD. The purpose of the donation was to ensure our students can fully participate in modified sport activities throughout our District. Look for these amazing ramps to be put into action at our 3rd Annual Districtwide Bocce Tournament on October 29th. We would like to thank Conveyors & Plastics Inc. for the donation and thank Mrs. Kylie Smith and Ms. Ashley Hastings for organizing and seeing this idea though. Our students cannot wait to use these ramps! #SpartanForLife
Heather Hitchens, District Special Olympics Coordinator and Central Elementary Teacher, was honored at Night of Heroes presented by Special Olympics Delaware. Through her leadership, every Lake Forest School now participates in Special Olympics at some capacity impacting the lives of all of our students. Both Central and South Elementary are State Unified Champion Banner Schools and just this past month Central Elementary was awarded the highest possible recognition through Special Olympics North America and is now a National Unified Champion School. We are so grateful for Mrs. Hitchens, as well as the entire District's support in Special Olympics and as Lake Forest High School gets ready to host their 3rd Annual Bocce Tournament, we see the impact this program is having on all of our students. #SpartanForLife
