Congratulations to our Lake Forest OM teams who competed this weekend where four teams qualified for World Finals in Iowa!  Thank you again to all of the coaches and volunteers.

OM will have several upcoming fundraisers to get these four teams to Iowa.  Please keep an eye out for emails as well as the LFOM Facebook page for dates and times.

Please see results below and contact Rachel Argo with any questions.

Greetings Spartan Staff,

This past Saturday was a great day to be a Spartan!

Congratulations to our four teams who qualified for the Odyssey of the World Finals and will represent Delaware next month in Ames, Iowa

If you have not seen our OM Facebook post, this is how everything turned out:

Team Gonet/Cole - Our youngest OMers demonstrated that the show must go on when their vehicle developed mechanical failure that they were not able to overcome. The team continued to perform their cute Candyland skit and were able to show the judges how things should have worked during team discussion time. I know this team learned so much working together this year and cannot wait to see what they design next year!

Team Cimo - This team took the vehicle solution for a spin this year. Their homemade remote-controlled vehicle had some technical difficulties on its travels to the North Pole however the team carried on with their skit which included some creative special effects with blowing popcorn.

Team Weller- This team included members who were almost all new to OM. They worked hard on developing their humorous Deep Space Structure skit which wowed the judges. Their 15-gram balsa wood structure was able to hold 120 pounds before it was crushed. This team learned a lot about OM and can't wait to see what creative ideas they come up with next year.

Team Boyer - Our middle school ladies worked hard around their very busy extracurricular schedules to Dazzle us with their Rocking World Detour. Their high energy, dramatic performance brought many laughs from the audience and included a working electrical stop light. These young ladies have a lot to be proud of and have a bright OM future ahead of them!

World Finalists, Team Hansen/Salerno included members from last year's World Finals team with the addition of some new faces. They improved upon their performance at regionals with strong style and spontaneous scores and by channeling their inner OMER to finish in 2nd place thus earning an invitation to World Finals.

World Finalists, Team Gygrynuk finished in 2nd place and included only 4 members, but boy can these ladies perform. Their Rock Band was detoured to Atlantis where they encountered a character who spoke Greek. The members were able to get help from a Google translator in order to get their band back on their World Tour.

World Finalists, Team Massey/Durand put together a 3rd State Champion Division III Vehicle solution with an Alex in OMERland theme. This group of seniors were presented with their OM Honor Cords to wear at Graduation and Nolan Ledford was presented with this year's $1,000.00 OM Scholarship!! Congratulations Seniors - it has been an absolute pleasure to watch these students grow throughout their LFOM journey.

Rounding out the World Finalists teams is Team Gleeson/Washinski. These coaches and students were all brand new to OM this year, but they sure looked like seasoned veterans!!  This group of high energy elementary age boys built a 15-gram structure that held an amazing 365 pounds to earn 2nd place and an invitation to World Finals. I can't wait to see them perform in Iowa- this group has a bright OM future ahead of them.
